    SAVE THE DATE: UMA3 2nd Summer School and Strategic Workshop

    It is with great pleasure to announce that the 2nd UMA3 Summer School, this time on “Lightweight alloys and MMCs for aerospace”, is planned to take place on September 26th-28th, 2022, at the University of Patras, Greece. The summer school is part of the overall UMA3 training and educational activities aimed at improving the theoretical and practical knowledge of young and early stage researchers from UNIMI-FMSE.

    As part of the overall training and knowledge transfer activities of the UMA3 project, the Summer School will also be followed by a 2-days Strategic Workshop, on September 29th-30th 2022, at University of Patras, Greece, on the topic of “Simulation of materials behavior and manufacturing processes”.  

    Both events are free of charge and up to 20 trainees can take part on a first come first served basis. A preliminary agenda can be found here.

    UMA3 Workshop on "Boosting International Synergies in Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Industry: Technology trends and new business opportunities forum" has been completed!

    The UMA3 Workshop on "Boosting International Synergies in Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Industry: Technology trends and new business opportunities forum" has been held successfully today, Wednesday June 22nd, 2022; in Parque Technologico de Leon, Spain. The event, which has been organized by the UMA3 partner ICAMCYL, was also broadcasted virtually via online streaming on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5X2pb9-oao


    This international workshop has joined the main actors in the Hungarian and Spanish panorama, focusing on the regions of Castilla y Leon and Miskolc, to generate the fertilisation ecosystem to enhance and boost business cooperation and opportunities as well as technology transfer and mutual innovation in advanced manufacturing and aerospace industry technologies in both countries.


    Several noteworthy presentations took place in the frame of the workshop and important issues have been raised and discussed such as: EU Competitiveness and Leadership in Manufacturing Industries; the Hungarian strategy of innovation, Strategy of the Hungarian Space Cluster, Aerospace technology heavy and advanced manufacturing industry; Synergies of Spanish and Hungarian entities and innovation ecosystems, etc.

    UMA3 Seminar on "Innovative technologies and industrial synergies: Matching the current aerospace industry with technology trends"

    An UMA3 Seminar on "Innovative technologies and industrial synergies: Matching the current aerospace industry with technology trends" has been organized by UMA3 partner ICAMCYL and will take place (Online from Leon, Spain) on June 23rd 2022. Several very interesting presentations on the topic are planned to be given by distinguished representatives.

    The UMA3 seminar will be followed by an UMA3 Consortium meeting in the frame of which the latest progress and main upcoming activities of the project will be discussed.

    1st UMA3 Summer School successfully held!

    The 1st UMA3 Summer School on "Powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing" has been successfully held on May 31st-June 2nd 2022, at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen, Germany. The summer school has been part of the overall UMA3 training and educational activities aimed at improving the theoretical and practical knowledge of young and early stage researchers from UNIMI-FMSE. In addition to the several informative presentations and activities realized, site visits at AIRBUS and MATERIALISE also took place.

    A 2nd UMA3 Summer School has already been confirmed and will be held on September 26th-28th 2022, at the University of Patras, Greece, on "Metal Matrix Composites". The latter will be followed by a 2-days Strategic Workshop at UPATRAS on the topic of "Simulation Tools for Materials". Stay tuned, as more information on that will follow shortly!

    UMA3 presented at the “Hungarian Girls’ Day”


     UMA3 has participated and been proudly presented at the “Hungarian Girls’ Day”, an annual event organized by the Nature Award-winning Association of Hungarian Women in Science (NaTE), aimed at attracting women and girls into following science, technology and engineering related studies and careers. The Girl’s Day event took place on April 28th, 2022. More information can be found here.

    UMA3 Summer School on "Powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing" in Bremen, Germany (31 May-2 June 2022)

    It is with great pleasure to announce that the 1st UMA3 Summer School on "Powder metallurgy and additive manufacturing" will be held from May 31st until June 2nd, 2022, at Fraunhofer IFAM in Bremen, Germany.

    The summer school is part of the overall UMA3 training and educational activities aimed at improving the theoretical and practical knowledge of young and early stage researchers from UNIMI-FMSE and is organized with the support of the excellence centres participating in the twinning activity. Site visits at AIRBUS and MATERIALISE are planned to take place among others.

    The UMA3 summer school is free of charge and registrations are open until May 16th 2022.

    UMA3 new publication at the EASN Newsletter

    A new UMA3 publication has been included on the latest edition of the EASN electronic periodic newsletter (February 2022 issue). The dedicated UMA3 article presents the project's main progress, activities, achievements and news, including the latest training seminars and events organized and held in the frame of the CSA.

    The EASN newsletter has been widely circulated to more than 10.000 aviation-related stakeholders, scientists and professionals throughout Europe, and presents, among others, interesting aviation and space related publications, surveys and interviews, as well as the latest achievements and results of several EU-funded research projects and news of members of the EASN Association.

    UMA3 Mid-term review meeting took place

    The UMA3 project has successfully held today, February 17th 2022, its mid-term review meeting! The meeting took place virtually (via ZOOM) with the participation of all consortium members, the Project and Financial Officers from REA, as well as the scientific advisor of the project.

    Important aspects of the UMA3 CSA were raised, as well as the main up-to-date progress, activities, achievements and results of the project as a whole, as well as of each individual WP and partner, were presented and assessed. Moreover, very useful comments and suggestions were shared by the REA side, as well as concurrently, the next main steps and schedules for the implementation of the UMA3 activities and the ultimate maximization of its impact, were collectively discussed and planned.
